- Bodog Fight is a reality television series and mixed martial arts competition that originated from Costa Rica and is created and produced by entertainment mogul Calvin Ayre and his Bodog Entertainment Group. The first of the series, Bodog Fight Series I: To the Brink of War, made its debut in September 2006 and is now into its third season.
Fourteen professional MMA fighters are situated in Costa Rica and fight to earn the right to represent the United States as part of Team USA. In a later pay-per-view event, the seven victors will then square off against members of the Russian Red Devils team.
Bodog Fight Series I: To the Brink of War aired on Men's Outdoor and Recreation, DISH Network, The Fight Network in Canada, and online at the Bodog Fight website September 19, 2006.

Jorge Masvidal vs. Keith Wisniewski
Masvidal wins over Wisniewski in a controversial judges' decision. Though Keith dominated the 1st and 2nd rounds, Jorge still won out with a narrow points-victory: 87 over 84.

Ellington is forced to tap out after Patt applied an armbar, granting Patt a victory by submission.

Bodog Fight Series II: Clash of the Nations
On February 5, 2007, ION Television announced an exclusive television alliance with Bodog Entertainment. Beginning February 13th, ION Television started to run original episodes of Bodog Fight Series II: Clash of the Nations Tuesdays and Saturdays at 11 p.m. ET/PT; this time slot, generally used for infomercials and other paid programming, has been paid for by Bodog. The series culminated with a special pay-per-view event on April 14, 2007 at the ICE Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia featuring some of the biggest names in the world of mixed martial arts.

Nicholas Delton Thompson (born June 23, 1981) is a retired American mixed martial artist. He retired with a professional mixed martial arts record of 38–14–1. He has fought professionally for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Strikeforce, Bellator Fighting Championships, and Bodog Fight. He is the former Bodog Fight Welterweight Champion and holds wins over Eddie Alvarez, Josh Neer, Paul Daley, Mark Weir and Chris Wilson.[1]
Background[edit]
While attending college, Nick wrestled at the University of Wisconsin from 2000–2002. He then began training with coach Dave Strasser at Dave Strasser’s Freestyle Academy in Kenosha, Wisconsin. While there, he trained with manager Pat O'Malley, Ron Faircloth, Nick Agallar, and Brian Geraghty.[2] In 2005, Nick moved to attend the University of Minnesota Law School. He began training under coach Greg Nelson at Minnesota Martial Arts Academy. Nelson is closely affiliated with Erik Paulson, founder of Combat Submission Wrestling.[3]While there, Nick trained with fighters Sean Sherk, Brock Lesnar, Brock Larson, Nik Lentz, Derrick Noble, Paul Bradley, and Kaitlin Young.[4][5]
Mixed martial arts career[edit]
UFC[edit]
He made his UFC debut at UFC 56 where he defeated Keith Wisniewski. He returned to the UFC on April 15, 2006, where he lost against the highly ranked and seasoned judoka Karo Parisyan at UFC 59.
Bodog Fight[edit]
Following his fights in the UFC, and after three warm-up fights with smaller organizations, Thompson signed with Bodog Fight, a former MMA organisation. After cutting through three Bodog opponents, Thompson was offered his title fight with Eddie Alvarez, a previously undefeated fighter. After winning his fight against Alvarez on April 14, 2007, Thompson has since defended his title twice.[1]
World Victory Road[edit]
Nick's final title defense against John Troyer was the last fight on his contract with Bodog.[6]Rumors of his intent to sign with World Victory Road were confirmed with his addition to the organization's March 3, 2008 inaugural Sengoku show. Nick was scheduled to face Fabricio Monteiro in his debut.[7] He won this debut against Monteiro via three-round unanimous decision.[1]
EliteXC[edit]
Nick fought Jake Shields on July 26, 2008 for the newly created EliteXC Welterweight title, losing via submission in the first round.

On February 25, 2009 in a radio interview, Thompson confirmed that he has signed on with California-based Mixed Martial Arts promotion Strikeforce. Thomson stated in his interview that he could be fighting as early as April 11, 2009.[8]
Shine Fights[edit]
Nick signed a multi-fight deal with upstart, Ohio and Florida based promotion, Shine Fights. Before even making his debut, he was requested to a new deal.[9]

Ultimate Glory[edit]
Nick was supposed to fight Siyar Bahadurzada at Ultimate Glory 12 on Oct. 16th, 2010 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, but had to pull out at the last minute due to an injury. He was replaced by Derrick Noble.
Personal life[edit]
Nick lives in LaCrosse Wisconsin with his wife.[4][10] The couple had their first child on July 24, 2009.[11]
Thompson is a practicing lawyer and is now an associate at Nichols Kaster Attorneys at Law.[12]
