BetMGM Sportsbook has added a future for the 2021 NBA Defensive Player of the Year award and one member of the Brooklyn Nets is fairly high on the list — though, he still has longshot odds.
Even though Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antentokounmpo (+450) is the reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year, Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert (+300) is the favorite to win it in 2020-21, having received the honor in both 2018 and 2019. Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis (+350) was also given better odds to win than the back-to-back NBA MVP.
Seven spots after Antetokounmpo on the list, Brooklyn Nets fans will find their center, Jarrett Allen, on BetMGM‘s list. He’s been given +4000 odds to win Defensive Player of the Year in 2021 — the best odds of any Nets players, but again, longshot odds.
For his efforts in 2019-20, Allen received one Defensive Player of the Year vote and one vote for NBA All-Defensive team.
